THE RAILWAY TROUBLE, EMPLOYEES' DEMANDS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 5. The amalgamated railwayman's executive has notified the Midland Railway Company that it insists on Richardson's reinstatement, with the understanding that in future any alteration in instructions to employees be given in writing. DIRECTORS BLAMED. LONDON, March 6. (Received March 7, at 0.10 a.m.) . The Times states that the directors of the Midland Railway Company have mismanaged the Richardson case, which should be retried. BAKERS' DEMANDS REFUSED, i LONDON, March 6. (Received March 6, at 11.10 p.m.) The employers have rejected the bakers' demands. Last month 10,000 London bakers de< manded a 54 hours' week, with a wage of 30s in shops and 32s in factories. The masters stated that tbey 'would concede the demand if each man baked 10 sacks weekly. Tho men replied that such a thing was impossible! The intention of tho men is to strike on tho 15th inet.
DISPUTES IN SYDNEY. TEMPORARY SETTLEMENT. SYDNEY., March 6. The wheat handlers' strike is settled, and the men resume to-day. The threatened ferry employees' trouble has been averted. In both cases the men accepted Mr Carmichael's undertaking that a Wages Board should deal with their claims at the earliest moment.
