PORT CHALMERS BOROUGH COUNCIL

The fortnightly mooting of tlw Port Chalmers Borough Council was held last evening, them being present—the Mayor (Mr F. W. Platts), Crs Fail, Powell, Scoliay, Alawfon, Stevenson, Bauchop, and Anderfion. Apologies for absonco were received from Crs Adier ami Lunn, who was grarrted further leave for a month, owing to injury received from an accident.

Tho Wator Committee rc;>ortrd that the water services in Georee and Burns streets had been duly attended to, and that a .water service had been laid , down to tho forester's how« and gardens.. The inspector had been instructed lo carry out the ncce-'sary repaiis to tho reservoir bridge.—Adopted. Tho Works Committee reported in dotoil showing tho amount of general maintenance work donp in the boiough since tho previous meeting, and stut.rd it could net comply with a request to form a pathway fronl Scotia street lo Mr D» CVwts's residence. The committee recommended that the Firo Brigade Station bo removed from its present rosition in Fox street to a moro suitable site in Meridian" fitreet.— (.'t Powell moved an amendment to havo the clause rotating to the path referred back to tho committal for further report, but it was lost on the voices, and tho report was adopted. The Sanitary Committee reported having effected repairs to the drain_ in Bernicia street, and also to having received a supply of Military appliar.ces.~Ad3ptcd. Tho Baths Committee reported having visited the ba-ths and found everything in pood order. The committco recommended that watvr be laid in from Kaio lano for fliower' , ' baths, etc., nt an estimate*} cost of £10.—The report was adopted, and Iho committee was asked to obtain nn ret ima to of coM for procuring a. punt, to be used in the bath*

The Finance. Committee reported that] the receipts since last mec-ting totalled £115 14s 2d, mid accounts amounting to £90 9s 5d woro recommended for payment. CVupons amounting to £27 on account of waterworks loan lind been paid by thn bank fcince last meeting. Thn bank book sliowed a total debit of £1599 9a 6d.— Adopted, The Reserves Committee recommended that an appHcation for grazing rights ol the rc-crvc in Victory place be d«:lined; ulso, that tliw forester bo supplied with 60.v of Jin bos».—Adopted.

ASSISTANT FOItESTEIt. Cr Fail moved in accordance with previous notice that Mr David Asher l>o appointed asshiunt forester.
