Off the former's first over Hill was caught from a mishit to short equarc-leg. Ho batted soundly for 100 minutes.. Four for 89. Two runs were added beforo Foster bowled Kirkwood, and Backman came next. Tho century came in 128 minutes. When Down had scored 12 he was missed by the wicketkeeper off Barnes and by Rhodes at tilly equarc-leg off Footer. Jn Foster's next over Rhode* caught Buckicon in the «ame place. The other met. gave little trouble. The innings last*! 180 minutes.' Barnas and Foster bowled splendidly, nnd the fielding was brilliant.
In South Australia's .second innings Foster bowled Down with the score at 4, breaking his etunrp. At 7 Hi[l waa beaten by tho paco of tho ball. Crawford hit hard from the atari, and made six successive 4's, mostly oft" Vine, who haJ relieved Foster. Mayne batted 6teadily, and Crawford continued hie forcible tactics, reaching 50 in in hour.
