O.R.F.U. COMMITTEE. Tho weekly' meeting of tho committee of the O.R.l''.U. was hold last night, Mr F. 11. Campbell presiding. UUIiUEtU-UAMcNCE. The Secrotajy of tho.Southern Club wrote claiming tho Scoond Grado match Southern v. Port Chalmers as tho latter were unablo to raise a team.—Granted. Tho Secretary of tho Pirates Club wrote stating that owin.fr to boing unablo to rniso a full team tho cfab's Fourth Grade team was obliged to default.—Received; tho lino to bo remitted. Tho Secretary of the University Club wrote asking permission to play E. E. Lomas, who is at present in Duircdin. Tho writer stated that Lomas had played in two'matohce at tho beginning cf tho season for Victoria Collogo, Wellington, but had since resigned from tho club.—Permission granted, subject to the facts as stated boing correct. The Secretary of tho AlDiombra Club wrote applying for a transfer for A. A. Falconer to his olu'b from tho Palmorsttti Club, for "which he played last season.— To be informed that if Falconer has not played for Palmerston this soason a transfer is unnecessary. In regard to tho application by the Kaikonti Club to withdraw its Third Grado toam from tho Flag Competition, tlio secreta;ry of tiho cJub wroto stating that it was impossible for tho club to put in a team. During tho season 31 players had beeir graded in the Thin! Grade team, but of tdieeo sevon had gone into Second Grade and 20 others had ceased playing owing to various caused. That left the club with only four playee willing to play for fcho Third Grade. Tho Fourth Grado team was composed of tiho previous year's Fifth Grade players, and, they wore tco young atul inexporioiroed to play in Third Guide football.—The explanation was accepted, and tho application was granted. GENERAL. B. Shanks, of tho Port Chalmers Club, who was ordered off tho field in the Fourth Grado match Port Chalmers v. Southern for striking at an opponent, and who failed to appear at last mooting of the committee, attended' iiho meeting , to explain his position. Shanks 6aid that ho did not striko at his opponent, but was collared by him, and merely pushed him away. —It was decided that Shanks stand down for another playing Parurday, he having already stood down ono Saturday. It was decided thrt Couirtry Week should bs held this year on tho saino lines as last yoar, to commence on August 26. It was decided to write to tho Inspector of Police informing him of tho fact thatfootball was being played on certain grounds on Sunday afternoons. A MEETING OP CAPTAIN'S. Tho committeo had irsued invitations to the captains of all teams phyinq in grade matches to asfombki and have the position in regard to tho alleged increase of rousrli phy placed beforo them. Thirteen captains a'tonded. including the First Grade captains ■if tho Keikorai. Port Chalmers. Alhambra, Pirates.' Zingari-Riohmond, and Southern, and junior captains of tho University, Ravonshoiirno, and Union Clubs. Tho Chairman said tbev wanted to impress npen thorn as oaptains tho necessity for mittiirg down some of tho practices which had crept into football.
