THE WEATHER.
The weather favoured! holiday-makers yesterday. Towards evening, however, tho clouds became foreboding, and about 9 p.m. a fairly heavy shower fell. It, did not last long enough to confer very much benont, and tho night afterwards became tantalisingly fine. We have received the folk'wing Communications from our correspondents:—

The rainfall registered here for tho 24 hours ended 7 a.m. to-day was 22 points. DIPTON, March 22. The rainfall registered here for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was 16 points. Tho xain came following a very strong, hot north-west jjaJe.
QUEENSTOWN, March 22.
The rainfall registered here for the 24 hours ended 9 a.m. to-day was 10 points. Rain commenced at 8 a.m., and ceased at 8.45 a.m., tho amcimt mentioned falling in tiiat time.
