WELLINGTON, March 22. Today a petition containing 7169 f tures was presented by the Trades aud Labour Council to the Mayor, requesting that a poll be taken to decide the question as to which day Wellington should observe the weekly half-holiday. The promoters of the petition claimed Saturday as the natural day for the half-holi-day, as it would allow better facilities for enjoyment than Wednesday.
