LAWN TENNIS.

SCHOOLS' TOURNAMENT,

Tho fourth annual schools' tennis tournament, held under the auspices of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association, was commenced on Saturday. Tho number of entries receivod was quite satisfactory, although only one school was represented—the Otago Boys' High School. The standard of play was perhaps hardly as high as that of last year, although good form was shown by G. I. Black, tho champion of 1909, by his brother, Rex Black, and also by Allen, M'Donald, and R. S. Black. The games were controlled by Messrs J. S. Sinclair and H. Chapman, and Mr R. S. Black (president of the association) was present during the morning. Tho following are tho results to date: —

Boys' Championship Singles.—G. I. Black boat Woods, 9-1; M'Donald beat R. Fitzgerald, 9—l; Allen beat Anderson, 9—7; Rex Black beat Hutchison, 9-6; R. S. Black beat Haggit't, 9-2. Boys' Handicap Singles.—Anderson (ser) boat Wren (roc. 4-6 15), 6-3; G. Fitzgerald (owe 15) beat Edgar (sor), 6—2; Da-wson (owe 1-6 of 15) beat Dick (roc. 4-6 of 15), 6-3; Scott (rec. 4-6 of 15) beat Wood (rec. 15 1-6), 6-1; Driver (rec. 15 1-6) beat Boss (rec. 15), 6-4. Boys' Plandicap Doubles.—G. I. Black and Rex Black (owo 30) beat Sare and Paterson (wr), 6—l; Fulton and Stephens (rec. 3-6 of 15) beat Rcss and Murray (rec. 15 2-61, 6-4; Dick and Flamank (rec. 15) beat Mason and Driver (rec. 15 2-6), 6—l.

CROMWELL v. ALEXANDRA. A match between Cromwell and Alexandra was played at Cromwell on tho 11th inst., tho homo team winning by 21 games. The following are the scores, the names of the Cromwell players being given first:—

Men's Singles.—Stevens boat Howitt, 6-2; D. C. Jolly beat John O'Kano, 6-5; AVrighteon beat James O'Kano, 6—3;' E. .Tolly beat Botting, 6—l; Wishart 'beat Kelman, Albol beat Oliver, 6-2. Ladies' Singles.—Mrs Tizard lost to Mrs Tumor, I—6; Miss Trovathon lost to Miss Ross, 5—6; Miss Cahill beat Misg Kyle, 6—5; Miss Mitchell lost to Miss Gunn, 1-6.

Men's Doubles.—Stevens and' D. C. Jolly beat Hewitt and John O'Kano, 6—5; Wrightson and E. Jolly beat James O'Kano and Botting, 6—o: Wiehart and Abel beat Kelman and Oliver, 6—o. Jolly and Miss Trovathon lost to John O'Kane and Miss Ross, 4—6; JVright6on and Miss Cahill lost to James O'Kane and Miss Kyle, 4-6; E. Jolly and Miss Mitchell beat Botting and Miss Gunn, 6-2.

A friendly match was played between Green Island and Mosjiol on Saturday at Grocn Island. Moegiel won by 9 games.
