BOWLING.

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION COUNCIL.

A meeting of the Now Zealand Bowling Association Council was held last evening, there being present Messrs C. S. Longuut (iu the chair), C. J. Payne, J. 11. Hancock, J. C. Short, W. "M-Donald, and W. Allen.

The Christchurch Centre wrote about a variety of matters. First as to an application by Mr Keaet for a second certificate for tho winners of tho Doubles, the certificate to be presented to Mr Keast's club.— ■ The council could not see its.way to issue othor certificates than those mentioned on the programme.—The letter next .intimated that the centre had carried a resolution that it was expedient the office of bowl-teeter should either bo. an honorary one or should • have a salary attached to it, cm the principle 'that it was hotter that no individual should have a pecuniary interest in the condition of' tho bowls tested.—lt was decided that the council could not soo its way at present to carry out the suggestion.—The letter stated that the centre desired to have tho remaining parts of the bowl-testing apparatus sent on; alfx) standard bowl, and an arrangement made that someone locally test and alter bowk—After discussion it was rceolved that the Christchurch Centre be requested to return tho bowl-testing apparatus, which had boon merely forwarded for tho purposes of tho tournament, and tho council was of the opinion that it should be in the custody of the official tester.—The centre also forwarded the balance sheet of tho tournament, which showed, a credit klance of £31 10s Bd.— The balance sheet was approved.

Another letter from the same centre intimated that a resolution had been come to recommending , that all rules be strictly adhered to in competitions under the control of the council.—lt was resolved that the council, having passed rules sufficient to cope with all matters complained of, it desired to point out that their enforcements rested with tho centre managing tournaments or matches. A communication from the Christchurch Centre, dated 12th inst., intimated that it had been decided, to hold a local tournament at Easter, and asked that permission be granted if permission was necessary.— Resolved that as the Christchurch Centre had so far not had a tournament this season, tho council would consent to the application to hold a tournament at Easter. The council desired, however, to point out that it would in no case consent to any centre holding two tournaments in any ono season.

Another letter from the Christchurch Centre, addressed to the secretary of the Dunedin Centre, contained a suggestion that the next season's tournament be held during Now Year week. This communication was evidently intended for the Dunedin Contrej not for the council.—lt wa6 resolved to refer tho question to the various centres.

Mr H. L. 'Darton wrote stating that tho second prize Champion Singles certificate for 1904 had been destroyed, when the Lawrence Bowling Club's pavilion was burnt Ho had- secured second position, and he asked that another certificate might be issued to him; he bearing the cost— Agreed , to.
