CROWN RESUMPTION WANTED.

GREYMOUTH, February 9. Understanding that Cabinet has rejected the proposal that the Wallsend freehold should be resumed by the Crown and offered to the public as a coal mining lease, and being convinced of the otherwise certain effacement of the old Branner mining township, the Wallsend Mine, League has decided to nek whether, ae a means to avert such a calamity, the Government will, consider a request to supplement or subsidise an offoit to acquire and reopen the Walkcnd mine by granting (subject to the ratification by Parliament) a loan of say £10,000 to a subscribed capital of £15,000 if such amount is assured for the purpose.
