CROWN RESUMPTION WANTED.
(FbOU OUB OwK CORRESPONDENT.)
GREYMOUTH, February 9. Understanding that Cabinet has rejected the proposal that the Wallsend freehold should be resumed by the Crown and offered to the public as a coal mining lease, and being convinced of the otherwise certain effacement of the old Branner mining township, the Wallsend Mine, League has decided to nek whether, ae a means to avert such a calamity, the Government will, consider a request to supplement or subsidise an offoit to acquire and reopen the Walkcnd mine by granting (subject to the ratification by Parliament) a loan of say £10,000 to a subscribed capital of £15,000 if such amount is assured for the purpose.
