CHARGES AGAINST THE POLICE. ALLEGATIONS OF ASSAULT. Press association—By Tokgraph— Copyright. LONDON, February 8. Mr Keir Eardie demanded the appointment of a Royal Commission to inquire into the assault charges against the police during the South Wales strike. The Home Secretary (Mr Churchill) said that, in view of the high character of the metropolitan police, lie must refuse to consent to a general inquiry, but lie would be prepared to investigate any individual charges.
