MEETING AT ROXBURGH.

(From Our Own Coiihespondext.)

ROXBURGH, January 27. The keen desire of settlers to get on the land in .this district has been manifest by the interest taken in the cutting up of a part of Ornvaglade Run and the approaching cutting-up of Mount Bengcr Kim next month, Many residents are determined to try to get a piece of the country, and are up in arms at the suggestion to offer parts by auction. Some discontent exists as to the property. It its thought the Land Board might have made all Gelections so a 6 to include high and low country. A meeting was hurriedly called for last night to consider the matter,' and it was attended by about 30 representatives from all over the district and would-be applicants. Mr J. Bonnets, county member, for the lienger Riding in the County Council and chairman of the Railway Lsaugc, presided, and much enthusiasm was shown and a free discussion took place. The people here want every section to be balloted for. On the motion of Mr A. H. Tamblyn, seconded by Mr E. Bloxam, the following resolution was earned unanimously, and has been telegraphed to the Land Board and the Minister of Lmds:—"That this meeting protests against any part of the Mount i'enger Run. being submitted to auction, and that the Otago Land Board be reepectfully and earnestly recommended io dispose of by ballot only those parts of the Mount Benger Run that are to be offered as small grazing runs and pastoral runs." The secretary of the Railway Leagno (Mr Wnigth), the body under whose auspices the meeting was held, was instructed to write to the Land Board fully on tho matter, and the meeting was satisfied that thero would be applicants for every section.
