Thij Umet Justice expressed tho opinion that would not have sold tho jewellery unless he had been in poor circumatatiCTs, and ordered him to como »p for sentence if. called upon. ■ Alexander M'Masters -was charged with ■ having assaulted a inapried woman b?ii Constitution Hill, almost in the heart" of the city. Tho court was cleared during tho hearing of the case, and the publication of tho . evidence was forbidden. . T -hc court was occupied the..whole 'day in hearing a claim by George, Marshall for £501 damages from J. H. Saiginson ,-for reduction of tho plaintiff's daughter. Bofhi parties reside a--Lintley,;..ncar, Lurasden, Tho seduction was .admitted, but tho 'defendant held that thero had beerr no promise' to marry, .and' that,, as the plaintiff was-on bad terms with his daughter, he had; suffered no damage.
