Ho wplained that the value of tho property concerned was under £50, and that the council apparently demanded £15 cash for tho certificate required by the District Land Registrar. He considered the council's decision as very unfair and unjust to his olifkit. There was a grave doubt as to whether at law the council could charge any sum whatever. His client was willing to pay £1 per section, but not £3 15s. Failing the counoil taking a more reasonable view he had been instructed to publish the correspondence in tho newspapers and refer the matter to the proper Minister, and also, if necessary, to petition tho Supreme Court to oblige the council to fulfil its duties in a rr/isonable manner. The letter concluded with the request that the council should name its solicitor.— "Give him tho address of Hosking and Cook, and refer him to our previous letter " commented Cr Charlton.
