WELLINGTON PAINTERS.
ARBITRATION COURT AWARD.' (Per United Press. Association.) ' WELLINGTON, August 29. The, Arbitration Court has made an award which settles the dispute that existed between the Wellington Amalgamated Society of Painters and Decorators' Industrial Union of Workers on the one hand, and the Wellington Master Painters' industrial Association of Employers, and 50 firms and tradesmen in Wellington, Peto'ne, Lower Hutt, .Upper. Hutt, and Johnsonville. The award operates from August 25, 1910, until August 25, 1913. The minimum rate of wages for journeymen employed at'any , .branch of the .trade is fixed at. Is 3d per hour. The hours of laLour from Septein'ber 1 to April 30 shall be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on five days of the week, and from 8 aun. to noon on Saturdays; and ,from May Ito August- : 31 from 8 a.m. •to 4.30 p.m. on five days of the week, and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.' Overtime rates and apprentices' wages are specified. Special provision for country and suburban work is included, and the award also allows for preference to unionists, and for the payment of smaller wages to incompetent workers. The award, which embodies without alteration the agreement of the parties, applies to all employers, carrying on business within a radius of 25 miles from the Wellington ' Post Office.
