N.Z. LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. (l'isa Unitid Press Asroavnox.) CI-IHISTCTIUR.CII August 20. The New Zealand ladies' golf championship was continued at Shirley this morning when some splendid and keenly-fought contcste were witnessed the play being of a high order throughout. Tiic conditions were ideal for golf, a gentle, south-easter blowing with a cloudy sky and the sun only shining at intervals. Tho principal game was that between Hiss Collins (Wellington champion) ami Jliss Brandon (last year's runner-up for tho Zealand Championship. Tho game was very even. Mis 3 Brandon being 1 up for a considerable time. She lost her advantage, however, and Miss Collins won bv 2 up. Miss Gorrie and Mis Wright fought an even contest, first one and then the other leading, and Miss Gorrie finally securing the match at the last hole. Miss Campbell and Miss Pierce also gave'a good game. Miss Campbell won tho liist three holes, then Miss Pierce won four in succession. The next four holes were halved, and then Miss Campbell then won twor, and 'was one up. Tho next hole was. halved, and then Misa Campbell won another liole, and was donny 3, eventually finishing the match 3 up and 1 to play. Miss Wilson and Miss Humphreys had a strenuous contest, being neclc and neck all tho way. Miss Humph-, reys won on tho last green. Miss Hamlin gave Miss Wray the closest light she has had yet, the game being all square till eight holes had been played, after which Miss Wray gradually forged ahead. At the twelfth hole she was 5 up, but at tho thirteenth she lost tho ball from a very long drive, and forfeited tho hole. Miss Hamlin won tho next hole, leaving Miss Wray 3 up and 4 to go. The next two holes wero halved, leaving Miss Wrav the winner by 3 up and 2 to' play. Mjss Ashwoll and Miss HindmarsTi also had a very oven match, Miss Ashwell being 3 up at the sixteenth hole. Mrs Borthwick and Miss Abrahams fought out an even game all through,' Mrs Borthwick finally winning by 2 up. Miss Bell disposed of Miss Ledger by 2 up. The following are the results of the third round of the championship: — Miss Gorrie beat Miss Wright, 1 up. Miss Ashwell beat Miss Ilindmarsh, 3 up and 2 to play. Miss Campbell beat Miss Pierce, 3 uo and 1 to play. Mistf Collins beat Miss Brandon, 2 up. Miss Humphreys beat Miss Wilson, 1 up. Miss Wray beat Miss Hamlin, 3 up and 2 to play. Miss tiell beat Miss Ledger, 2 up. Mrs Borthwick beat Miss Abraham,. 2 up.
