OTTAWA, August 18.(Reccived August 18, at 10.30 p.m.) • In replying to tho Vancouver Board of Trade, which asked for a higher tariff, particularly on lumber, Sir Wilfrid Laurior said he felt confident that tho Minister' of Finance would framo a moderate tariff, .which-might be in tho naluro of a compromise, but fairly satisfactory to the wliolo community.
