ARNST AND -WHELCH TRAINING. (From Cue Own- Correspondent.) CHRIBTCHURCII, March 16. An Akaroa, correspondent of the Press writes:—The water has been rather rough during the last few days, and both Arnst and Whelch have been missing a certain amount of boat work. He is now 31b above his rowing weight, and is ju6t going the right way to be as fit as possible on the day of the race. Arnst did some very fast sprinting yesterday in calm water, putting in 30 strokes for the first minute-, 28 strokes for the second, and 27 strokes' for tho third, and evidently getting great pace out of his boat.

Whelch is rowing better than ever. Ho is just about the right weigtft, and is easing off a little. He is' taking a. much longer stroke than usual, and is finishing well. He did some-very fast sprinting yesterday, starting off at 34 and easing down to 30, and getting great pace out of his boat. His new boat, built by Towns, is evidently a flyer, and fits him admirably. Jack Arnst is_ putting in a lot of boat work, and has improved wonderfully during his stay in Akaroa. understood that he will be looking for a race very shortly.
