(Received Oct. 29, at 9.10 p.m;) News lias been N receivied to tho effect that while a Gorman explorer named Dammkohlar and a companion were prospecting for goM ia German Xc\v Guinea tiro natives surpri6ed the camp and fatally speared Dammkohler, and wounded his companion, who escaped. A punitiveforce has gone, to the some. Another tragedy is reported from the Solomon Islands. A number of natives attacked the station of Captain Joo Brinskin, a well-known trader, and murdered hie native \vifo and family of .young children and looted the. slat-ion during Brinskin's absence. Steps have been taken to punish tho murderers. (Received Oct. 30, at 0.20 a.m.) Later details show that Hcrr Dammkohler and his companion shot down 15 natives before they were overcome. In tho Solomon Islands tragedy, besides Captain Brinskin's wife and two children, three natives—two men and a woman—attached to the station were massacred.
