HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
The ordinary meeting of the Ilnspilsl Trustees, held yesterday, was attended by Messrs S. Solomon (chairman), J. Mill, .1 M. Gallaway, J. M'Donald, ]?. A. Tapper, J. Loudon, and Dr Batchelor. Apologies were received from tho lion. T. Mackenzie and also from Mr J. Brown, COP.KI'SPONDEXCK. The Treasurer of tho Diocesan Trust Board wrote forwarding a donation of £11.—lleceived with thanks. In reply to the Rev. I. K, M'lntyre, convener of the Presbyterian Committee on Attendance of Ministers to Hospital Patients, it was intimated that leave to attend had been granted subject to the NtltM. lii reply to a communication from the Hospital Board, it was decided to allow tho grant for payment of overdraft to be paid in throe, six, nine, and twelve months' instalments. Tlio Chairman mentioned that the old Hospital Board had refused to "rant more than £9000 for the year 1903-9. the result being that, the trustees had a shortago lo the amount of £1000, The new Hospital Board, however, had not only granted the £10,000 asked for 1909-10, bur had_ also granted the extra £1000 to wipe oil indebtedness, Mr A. (,'. llanlon, Commodore of the Otago Yacht and Motor Club, wrote enclosing a cheque (proceeds of a carnival) for £69 7.s 3d as a donation. The club requested the Irtistees to see their way to devote this money lo the endowment of two cote, to be called " The Hope-Jacobs Cots."—lf. was explained that the amount raised wa.s for Hie purpose of perpetuating Iho memory of the two stewardesses who lost their lives in the wreck ol Ihc Penguin.—Received with thanks—Mr Gallaway to confer with Mr Hanlon as to the naming of the cots. Dr Stuart Moore wrolo accepliug appointment, as assistant physician.—Hecoived. Mr Logio wrote making a donation of six copies of the "Prospector" for patients* of No. 1, Dominion, and Plunkct Wards.— Acknowledged with thanks. The Secretary of the lion, medical staff wrote re electric lighting of lecture room and laboratory, and also recommending an increase to Mr Howle.v's salary. The House Committee recommended that Mr Rowley's milary lie increased by £25. £12 10s to be paid out of laboratory funds; also that Mr Wales has been instructed to call for lenders for the electric lighting of lecture, room and laboratory.—Approved. REfOKTS. The House Committee recommended that Messrs Tiirnhull and Jones's lender for X-ray apparatus and electrical appliances stand over, Dr Batchelor to communicate with Sydney.—Approved. Tho Finance Committee recommended that apnlical ion be made to the Hospital Board for £833 6s 8d for maintenance for May. Tlio committee reported that application had been sent to the luspectorgelieral of Hospitals for subsidy as under:— Hospital Saturday Association donation, £575; Diocesan Fund, £22; subscription l>o\\ £4 16s sd; voluntary contributions. £138 8s 6d; medical stall's donation and general, £241 4s Bcl;—total, £981 9s 7d. Tho subsidy on the above amount, at 24s in the pound, equals £1177 15s 6d, and Philip Milchell's bequest of £100 oblains a subsidy of £50. A deposit receipt, for £2090 was due lo be paid, and Mr Tapper was requested lo endeavour lo have this money invested wit li the City Corporation at once. The Resident Medical Officer recommended that a permanent warder capable of taking charge of delirium tremens cases bo engaged, the salary to be ]>aid by the Government.—Tlie Chairman remarked that ho did not. think the proposal a feasible one. What was now done with such patients brought to Ihc "hospital was to send for o. policeman to have them taken to the Police Station.-Referred lo Mr Gallaway lo confer with Dr Falconer. The Mai ron reported that, the following applicants had been put on the list of probationers awaiting appointuienl ;— Misses Milne, liremner, Pope, and Paterson. The following applicants had been appointed probationers:—Misses O'Leary. Hercus, and Murray. Nurse Roy resigned her position as probationer. Nurse Miller, who had been 'seriously ill at the Fever Hospital, was now oufof danger and improving daily.—Approved. GKXKKAL. Mr R.
