TAIERI DRAINAGE BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of Hie Taiefi Drainage Board was held yesterday at Mosgiel, and was attended by Messrs Barron (chairman), Maeandrow, Furkert, Ke'mpthoriie, Bhand, Gibson, and Findlay. Mf" Snow sent 1111 apology tor unavoidable absence. COBRESI'OXDENTE. Messrs Duncan and MacGregor (the board's solicitors) wrote staling that they had not been advised as to 'whether or not Hodinotl's bridge at ITenley had been erected by the body that had ciit Iho drain over which the slrnctnre was built. Until they had this information the solicitors could not give an opinion in die direction asked.—To he informed that the road 011 which the bridge was built was a private one, over which the County Council hud no jurisdiction. GENERAL. In accordance' with notice given at the previous meeting, it wus resolved that a rate of lid in the pound bo struck over the eastern division of the Matmgatua Riding. Accounts were passed -as follows Loan account, £114 15s 2d; general account, £45 5s 7d. clerk was granted a fortnight's leave of absence, Mr G. B. Burns to bo acting clerk in tho interim. The engineer was instructed to treat, with an applicant for tho position of engineer's assistant, remuneration not to exceed 10s per day. The next meeting of the board was fixed for Monday, April 5. Messrs M'Leod and Muirhoad's lender for the erection of offices was withdrawn and that of Mr Orr Campbell accepted for a unci; building at £750.
