CmtISTCHURCIf, February 24. The fifth and final of the current scries of wool sales was held yesterday. The catalogues of the seven firms faking part in the sale aggregated 1989 bales. Tho comparatively small offerings were largely accounted for by the fact that a satisfoelory demand at tho earlier sales induced growers to sell, the passings being unusually light, and consequently tho'number of lines reoffered were few' in number. The bull; of the wool consisted of small lots, constituting the winding up of the season's clips, much of which was of indifferent quality. The attendance of buyers was somewhat MiiaHcr than at the sales held earlier in the soason, and was confined mainly lo representatives of local factories and fellmongering establishments. Tire bulk of the wool sold was secured by local and Bradford buyers. Competition was fairly brisk, except for merino, which to neglected, the greater part of this description being passed. Taking the quality into consideration, the prices obtained were fairly on a par with those niling at the previous sitilc. The following was the range of prices:—Merino, super B.;d to 9\<i, medium to good 7,Jd lo fid. inferior 6Jd to 7d; halfbred, super 9J(I in 9Jd, medium to good 7jd to Dd, inferior 5d to 7d ; thive-quai-terbred, super b'd to BJ<i, medium to good, 6Jd to 7jd. inferior 5Jd to 6^l; crossbred, super 7|d to Bd, medium to good tV.I lo 7Jd, inferior 41d to s^l; longwoql," medium to good 6'ijd ; Corriedale.
