Two others were practically curc;l, and a fifth had remarkably improved.
In 1908 Profes=or Deyck suggested a new treatment for leprosy. Having cnltivaledt.be lepra baeillns. ho extracted from it a fattv principle (nastin). which, when combined with benzoyl chloride nn<l administered in adequate doses, brings about, if not in every case a cure/the arrest of the disease m all but iho most boneless cases. The combination of nastin wilii benzoyl Chloride acts directly upon the lepra bacillus by depriving it of its fatly element, thereby killing it and leaving it an easv prey to (he protective influences of the tissues.
