AUCKLAND RAILWAYS.
(Per United Pa ess Association,) ! ~ AUCKLAND, February 24. The Hon. H. M'Kcnzie announced in a speech at Waiptt that the survey of the western route of the North of Auckland railway would be commenced at the end of this week. Tho question whether the route wont through the Bickerstsff Estate 'vas not material, but whether the line should go east or wast of the Taiigihua Range was. Mr ilaiider declared that, in view of tho engineers' opinions in favour of the eastern route, further survey was a waste of_ public, money. He asserted that (he Minister's action was weak. Mr M'Keuzie made a spirited reply, asserting that the western survey wL necessary in the interest* of the country, though it did not pledge Idm to either route.
