BUSH DISTRICTS SHOW.
SPEECH BY THE GOVERNOR,
(Pes U:iitmi Puess Association.) 'WOODVILLE, February 24. J lie annual show of llie Bush Districts A. and P. Association was held nn the Woodvillo Jockey Club's grounds to-day. The weather was perfect, and the attendance a record. At middav the Governor and suite nnrad, and were entertained at lunch by the president mid committee. During the afternoon the Governor addressed the crowd from the lawn, slating that it afforded him great jov to meet them, and what a pleasure it was to see such beautiful grounds for holding their shown on. He was told Ihal tlieiAntrios were satisfactory, hut the committee would like to sea greater competition amongst the smaller settlers. J[ e was pleased to have the opportunity of visitjug Woodvillo, and had no idea" until that day that Ike town and district were so prosperous. Travellers through Woodvillo by railway thought the piace was a miserable one, as th'ev could only see rotten slumps and broken-down railway trucks from the railway station, and they had no idea that such'a, snug little town was near by. 11l the thoroughbred stallion class Air Gaisford's Wa-ipawa was first and champion. For the stallion best ralctilated for breeding weight-carrying hacks Mr Orris's Royalty was first. For best marc in the same section Mr Jameson's Violet secured the hoiiows. In the draught class Mr Falloon's stallion Brilliant Bov was an easy first and champion. In draught mates Mr Gaisford's Lady Pretoria was first and champion. In the Ayrshire cattle classes Mr C. Woodhey, of Pahnerstou, was the only exhibitor, ami got all the prizes. In Jerseys, Mr J. S. Nelson secured the championship for his bull, and Mr S, R, Lancaster the same for his cow. In Lincoln sheep, Mr 11. Gaislord got the championship for the best ram. and Mr J. W. Bradley the same for the best ewe. In Bordei:'Leicester? the champion ram was shown by Mr If. ]'~ Blythes, and the ewe by Mr K r . P. Neilsen. Mr S. R. Lancaster won both English Leicester championships. In tb«"P.o-mney Marsh class Mr G. E. Allen's ram was first, and Mr J. K. Hewitt's ewe. In Soutbdowns Mr S. P. Lancaster won both championships. In the. pig classes a number of entries did not come forward. Li the Berkshire class Mr George Bailer got tho championship for his boar, and Mrjv. Charmley that for his sow. The do" and poultry classes were well filled. The competitions attracted a lot of attention. The ladies' leaping match was won by Mr 11. E. Hunt's Corrohoree, and the
same horse won the leaping match- in hunting style. Mr J. Miller's Diamond won the driving competition for gentlemen. The maiden leaping match was won by Mr N. L. Avery's Commodore. The Pony Race was won by Mr J. S. Nelson's Mona. The school exhibits were a- feature of the show.
