HARBOUR BOARD REPORTS.
Tho Harbour Board engineer (Jlr ,T. Biair Mason) will report ar, follows at the meeting of the- board to be hold today :-
Dredging.—Dredge "222" is engaged dredging near pile 12a, and between piles 15 and 16, Victoria Channel. During the moiirh of January the dixxlgo removed 26,557 cubio yards from Victoria Channel, 15,59 V cubic yawls from swinging basin, Victoria. Wharf, 3,099 cubic yards from Hattray street liGr>t.hagc, and 16£6 cubic yards from the Cress Wharf, making a total of 46,916 cubic yards, which were deposited at the Vulcan, and pumped on to the reclamation aysi, Ward street, at a, combined cost of about 6d per cubic yard. Dredge " 404 " is working in the channel off the Kaiic. During the month of January she lifted loads, totalling 29,250 cubic yards, v/iiich were deposited inshore south of Harrington Point.
Rattray Street Widening.—The piles for this work, delivery of which had been delayed, were duly landed ex Mary Isabel, on the 2nd inst., and immediately prepared for driving, the first pile being driven on tho 4Hi inst., since, which 160 it of piling has been placed, ami throo sets of top caps l»lt«l ready to receive beanie. The concrete backing ami bock tics for (Jic wharf arc in course of construction. Kitchener Street Wharf and ■Reclamation.—Tho retaining wall has been completed for a distance of 470 ft. and rcclajnation continued as material offered, 831 cubio yards of rock and clay filling being deposited and spread. Seventy-two wharf piles from 40ft to 45ft Jong have been moulded, and aro now maturing. Heads Quarry Works.—From January 16 to February 13 660 cubic yards were deposited on the north tQit wall, 90 cubic yards on the quarry groyne, and 390 cubic yards on.Kn.ik beach, making a total .if 1140 cubic yards, at a total cost of getting and depositing of 2s 2£d per cubic yard, and 6d for towage. General.—The (rout waling, with vertical rubbing pieces, A'ietoria. Wharf, lias be;n extended 120 ft, making tho total lon«th completed 184 ft. The A and W sheds, Jetty street, Jiavo been painted. The sheet pile-making plant lias been removed to French street, and tho whole of the floor epaco is now available for ear«o. The painting of tho sheds, Victoria Wharf, is in progress. Ordinary repairs have been ellected to wharves, sheds, and punts.
