THE RECENT CRICKET INQUIRY.
Sir,—lt seems from what I hear that a misconstruction has |™,i placed on the report of Mm inquiry with regard to tho IVnsbrook A and B match which puis somo of the sentlomen who appeared at the meeting in a false position. In ord-r to do away with any erroneous ideas that might liavo arisen from tho way in which tho matter was sUiv.\! by the reporters I would liko to make it clear through your columns that the caHeel to "jve cvidenco wore asked to awcinl for vhat purpose only, oud the presence of individual members of the team in no -way implied that there was a.ny suggestion of unfair play 'on tlioir part. There was no clu.rgo actually imulo, but tho Association Committee was caJlcd l on to hold an inquiry, ami in asking certain players to give evidence there was not tho slightest reflection on them any more than on tho umpires or players who tvero not summoned—l am, etc.,
R. Smith, President Otago Cricket Association, February 12.
