"SUGGESTIVE THERAPEUTICS."

Sill.—ln Thursday's issue of I lie Times there appeared an article over the signature of " Cortex," braving on the subject. of " Suggestive Therapeutics," which I enrmot :illo\v to pass without making a few comments thereon. "Cortex" tines not believe it possible to make crooked limbs straight, or to euro eanccr by sug-

gestion, and is also inclined to sneer at those who believe in "Suggestive Therapeutics." He tries to belitlle in the eyes of the public the grand and noble work done by those- practising this form of treatment. I might inform "Cortex" that crooked limbs can be made straight by this particular form of treatment, and I do not think lie will require to go out of his own town to find eases to prove what I say. 1 heliove cancer has been cured by suggestion, but it is a most difficult matter indeed to get people to believe such a statement, .because the average medical practitioner will not believe that it is possible to cure tin's dreaded disease (as medical science has, so far. not found a cure). As the average man is to a. great extent influenced by the medical authorities in regard to tlic-sc matters, it is only natural to expect such a statement :>> that made by " Cortex" 'when discussion arises on tho subject. It is not likely that a conservative body of men like the medical profession would admit, thai cancer could he cured by a form of treatment outside of their own, when they, after many years of study and research, have failed to find a- cure for it. Sumo years ago a well-known Christchurch metaphysician was asked by a Christchurch doctor to take in band a patient, suffering from cancer. The metaphysician asked the doctor what the patient was suffering from, and the doctor replied, " Oh, he is sintering from cancer." "And what if I cure him?" said the metaphysician. "Oh. well, then I shall say it is not cancer," replied the doctor. " Tho metaphysician told the doctor lie could go, and the doctor gracefully retired, no doubt well satisfied with himself. I believe this metaphysician has cured several cases of cancer, and \vi" continue to euro them so long as he is enabled to get tho necessary conditions. I know of reveral cases where malignant growths have been removed bv suggestion, and have never returned, some of the [xationis having been treated five or six years ago. I also know of patients who have had their crooked limbs made straight after undergoing r. course of treatment by suggestion. "Cortex" wonders if your readers really believe that crooked limbs can be made straight by this form o! treatment. I, for one, do, and I believe, there are many others in the same position as myself, who have either hoard of such cases or have been brought into pcisona! contact with them, as I have been. .V-:dical men all over the world are beginning (not, before time) to acknowledge the wonderful power of .suggestion over the human body, when properly used in a scientific and systematic manner. At a mooting of the British Medical Association eoiao time ago Dr J, F. Woods stated that

he had treated 2076 patients by suggestion, with the result that 1578 had recovered, and a la rue number had received mttcli benefit from tilo treatment. SttveU this spr-aks for itself. I f os | 1 ] mv c,taken up quite enough space, and I shall draw Ihi-. letter to a close, leaving much unsaid, hut believing that "Cortex" will in time, (it he has not done so already) clmige some of the ul'?as which he now holds "on thu all-important and vital subject.—l am, etc., I'srcmc.
