Lor some months past the committee of the Arthur Stieet School lias boon confronted with the knowledge that the school gymnasium in its present state is not as citick'iic as is inquired, and the alisolute need of ante-rooms resulted in a tine hjiwiar being d-eclurcd open yesterday afternoon by Mr John Kennntz, the chairman. Tiio gymnasium, with its decorations, presented a ' pleasant sight, the material in hand having been availed of to the ntmcsi. 'the lluwer stall in particular was a k'aulilul one, being one mass of well-arranged and brilliant blooms, the sweet p,in particular being shown in lino variety. Undoubtedly the most prominent lliing in the hall was a huge Christina:, lire, which, on the opening of the doors, was at once surrounded by a horde of eager children.
