TO TUB EDITOR. Sin—l observe a letter from Dr R. S. Stephenson, objecting to the holly hedge which lias been planted along the Anderson's 3Vay frontage ol the southorn reserve. It may interest your correspondent to know that the laying .out of this reserve is being tarried out in accordance with a scheme recommended by the committee of the Amenities Socictv, arrived at after much coii-iJemlion. Shortly put, it, is this: The i v.i oio of tho interior is to lie left open and laid down in grass, without shrubs, plots, or ot>?i motions of any kiiwl, so that it will bo nvailaiihi foe games and military displays. Along the Princes street and Kensington frontages a double row of trees will be planted witJi a wide walk between, but, nn tin: Anderson's Bay frontage there will be vow of trees only, the outer re, liiere replaced by the holly hedge objected io. Alohr the Kensington frontage the trees will he kept back sufficiently to fdloiv of the widening of the road the.ro to a width equal to the other roads bordering on the reserve. The reason which induced the committee to recommend the planting of the hedgo was a climatic one.
