(Per United Pbess Association.) • AUCKLAND, November 21. Kennedy Thomson, charged with break-, ing and entering, was sentenced to 12 months. Robert James Brvden, alias Jack Woodward, charged with the theft of jewellery and horse-stealing, who had abad record, was'.sentenced to three years on each charge (concurrent). Patrick Small, charged with assault, on a little girl at Hikurangi, was acquitted after retrial. ' WELLINGTON, November 21. George Leiteh was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for forging a receipt for a money ordo'r telegram, On a charge of breaking and entering, Charles Reston was sentenced to two years. OHRISTCHURCH, November 21. For offences against women or children, Robert Baxter received seven years, Henry Scrimshaw two 'years,' and Alexander Johnson 12 months. John William Tnnt, a Christcluirch builder, was acquitted on a charge of obtaining a. loan of £50 by means of false, pretences. He admitted two breaches of the Bankruptcy Act by contracting debts of £85 12s Id 'and £270 when he had no reasonable prospect of paying the same. He Was sentenced to three months', imprisonment, without hard labour.
