PRINCESS THEATRE. A very large audionco witnessed the exhibition of the Wide-World Pictures at tho Princess Theatre on Saturday evening The pictures this week aTo exceptionally good, and are well worth seoing. BASKET~SOCIAL. A most enjoyable basket social was held in the St. Mark's Hall, Green Island, on Friday evening' by a number of the momberw of Court Prido of Green Island, A.0.F., and their friends. The hall was comfortably filled with young people for dancing, which was kept up till tho small hours of tho morning. During tho evonillg songs wore given by several ladies said 1 gentlemen, and an abundant supply of light refreshments were handed round. Excel- ' lent music was supplied by Messrs John M'Lcan (piano) and John Marshall (violin). 1 Messrs A. Love awl G. Gardiner aetcd as ' M.C.'s, and kept tlie affair going - merrily | .until the break up. ' CHARLES SAUNDERS' RECITAL. Mr Saunders passed through Dunedin ! c » , route for Invercargill, on Saturday's mail train. A really magnificent, climax had' > seemed to be reached, when tho voice un.l cxpectedly swelled out into a cresoendo f that was astonishing. The audience fairly • - cheered Mr Saunders, who, smiling and | 1 speaking in the most, dulcet of tenor voices ; that oa-me in such amusinjr contrast to his 1 singing voice, promised that ho would' 3 sing again presently.
