THE CHRISTCHURCH FIRES.

EVmENCE OF INCENDIARISM. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Juno 19. Since the outbreaks of incendiary fires at the Reference Library and Masters and Son's shop, in High street, the police have been specially viligant, and a careful examination of a cottage in Chester street, which was destroyed by fire early this morning, revealed evidences that lead to the conclusion that it is another case of incendiarism. A number of auger holes were found in the floors, and round these the flames burnt most fiercely. It is almost certain that the holes were bored for the purpose of providing a draught for the Jlames. The detectives have the matter in hand. A small wood-turning factory in Tnam street, belonging to H. Smith, was destroyed by fire to-night, The machinery and stock were insured for £150, and the building (which was owned by Waller aauj Son, timber merchant*) for £100. Both risks are in the Standard office.
