DRAINAGE BOARD REPORTS.

* The following reports will bo dealt with at the next meeting of tho Drainage) Board:— " Tho Finance Committee reports that accounts amounting io £1427 6i 3d, oxamiiiccl and passed by tho Works Committee, were passed for payment and cheques signed. Accounts amounting'to £20 17s 4d were also examined and passed for payment. Since tho last mooting of the committee the sum of £2025 8s Id had boon paid into tho credit of the Harrogate fund. The bank pass-books show the following credits: Aggregate fund £301 13s sd, trust account £313 13s M. The committee recommends that the manager of tho Paper Mills, Woodhaugh, be informed that tho board has no statutory power to make a rebate of rates as requested in his letter. The Works Committee reports that the following matters have been authorised: — (a) Lawyer's Head: Engineer to safeguard in a pormanenl manner tunnels ajid shaft's discarded, (b) Albert street ditch, St. Kilda, to be piped, at estimated cost of £102, subject to a payment from the St. Kilda Conn, cil of-£2O. (c) Reticulation of portion of Crawford street, city, if a contribution oF £30 is made by the Express Co. (d) Engineer to call tenders, closing 23rd inst., for the reticulation of that portion of Hillside, Dmicdin, shown on Plan No. Ml. Woodhaugh Paper Mill private, sewer: Tho committee cannot recommend the board to declare this sewer a public one, as its grade and size will not fit in with tho board's permanent scheme.
