THE INVERCARGILL TRAGEDY.
(Per United Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, April 9. There is nothing .new to report in regard to the C'rinan street tragedy. Inquiry at tho hospital' late to-right elicited tho information that the wounded persons aro in the same condition as yesterday.
Our Bluff correspondent writes:—ln con* ncction with tlio Baxter tragedy, it is remembered (hat Baxter visited this place two or three weeks ago. He spent, the day in tJic bush, and on returning in tile ovens ing minus coat and vest showed two rather JKwty wounds, one in the head and another m the arm. A proposal jnade to dress the wounds was stoutly resisted by him, and 13 left without any provision of that kind having been made. He was, however, supplied with a coat and vest. Strange to say, those arrived back lo their owner in the Bluff on tho morning of tho tragedy, i'fioso who came in contact with Baxter on tnat occasion now assort that he was erratic, and looked as if his case required observation.
