THE BLACKBALL STRIKE
THE BALLOT QUESTION,
(From Our Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, April 8. Nothing fresh has occurred in connection with the Blackball strike. The miners are at present, being paid £1 per week strike pay. In regard to the voting by. ballot, or open discussion, tho rule of the union concerning the matter is as follows:—"All members to vote either for or a,gainst every proposition put to tho meeting. No member shall stand neutral on any question; the penalty for not voting to be 6d. At all meetings of the union every question shall Ik l , except where otherwise specially provided for, disposed ot by a majority of the members present, and voting shall be by division or ballot," Sinco tho commencement of the trouble Iho business has been conducted by open discussion, but if the majority are determined, they could get a ballot at any timo. Hickcy a r/solution was carried approving of the action of the Blackball strikers.
