Where a boy in England had first to distinguish himself in a competitive examination to enter Woolwich or Sandhurst, iui,d after that had to _ excel his classmates to have offered to him u commission in the Indian staff corp?, liere a boy had practically no competition, but might pa?c direct from tho Now Zealand force into this branch most sought after by officers of onergy and ability. A boy wilh any perseverance could qualify himself at school for tho requisite examinations by the timo he was 19, and after that live on his pay. He trusted to see some King's College boys take advantage of this opportunity.
