(Per United Piiess Association.) OHRISTCHUnCH, August 29. D. 0. M'lntyre, who was Superintendent of Awards at the. Exhibition, was brought to Christchureh to-day, reaching town at 10.30 a.m. No friends mot him ou the platform of tho railway station. He wile driven quietly to the police station. He seems to have lost a good deal of his heart'jiosa of manner, and his hair is grayer, but he said his health. was (jcod. After civil business was disposed of at the court, ho was brought before Mr Bishop, S.M., and formally charged with misappropriating money. When ho was brought into court it was seen that M'lntyre felt his position keenly. Ho did not raise hie eyes when placed in the dock. M'lntyre was charged with that while Director of Exhibits at the New Zealand International Exhibition, at Clrristehuroh, on October 1, 1906, he did steal the sum of £21 6s, the moneys of his Majesty King Eika.nl VII,
Mr Springer: I appear for the Crown, and ask for a remand until Saturday morning iyt 10.30 A.m. It may be found then that it is no,t necessary to call evidence. I do not think it is necessary to have all tho charges read.

M'lntyre was subsequently released on ba.il.
Further charges arc to bo preferred against accused. On being approached by a Truth reporter after his release on bail, M'lntyre declined to eay anything, except to commend tho extremely kind treatment he had received at the hands of Chief Detective M'llvcncy from the time of leaving Monte Video until his arrival in Chrietchurch. Detective M'llvcncy, in the course of a brief conversation with a reporter, stated that M'lntyre had not given .him a moments anxiety, or tho slightest trouble -throughout the voyage round the world. Both of them had received every kindness, courtesy, and consideration from the officers and passengers of the steamers and from tho Home authorities. They left Monte Video in tho steamer Southern Cross, on Juno 12. ' They called at Las Palmaa, in the Grand Canary group, and stayed thero a da-y., spending another day at Vigo, in Spain. The vessel arrived at Liverpool on July ?, and after spending- a day there they proceeded, overland to London, arriving there the following day. They loft the Royal Albert docks for New Zealand three days later in the Turakina. spending a day each at Toneriffo, Capetown, and Hobart. Wellington was reached "yesterday, Tho Commissioner of Police (Mr Dinnie) came out to meet them in a steam laimoh, which onabled them to land beforo the Turakina camo to the wharf. They transhipped into tho Pateena, and loft for Lyttclton last night. The detective states that both ho and M'lntyre enjoyed the best of health all the whilo, and neither of them missed a meal on the voyage.
