VERY KEEN DEMAND. (Per United Pbess Association.) NAPIER, June 27, Sixten hundred applications from all parts of the colony were received for four sections in the Nor-sewood district. They were balloted for this morning, and the following were successful Elizabeth Clark, Lars Olsen, Charles Thoma6, and James Fell. BALLOT FOR AIREDALE SECTIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) OAMAIUJ. June 27. The ballot for the Airedale Settlement took place here to-day in tho presence of tho Otago Land Board and a very large number of the applicants. No less than 418 persons had put in for Iho 11 farms. and the examination bad reduced these to 391. The ballot made it quite evident that there is plenty of demand in North Otacro and South Canterbury for laud of the right sort. Airedale is of fairly good quality and in good order, and the rentals are not heavv, as the subjoined particulars show. The following are the results of the ballot: — Ordinary Farms. Subdivision 1 (82 applicants).—Section U, urea 210 acres .10 poles; rents! por acre, 14s; half-yearly, £S2 7s 4d—Thomas M'Phee (Pap&kaio).
