SILTING OF THE OHINEMURI RIVER.
(Pub United Press Association.) THAMES, May 3. The Hon, .1. A. Millar, who arrived at tho Thames to-day, met a deputation regarding the silting of tho Ohinemuri River as the result of mining operations. He said tho matter was ono of importance. Ho fully recognised the gravity of the situation. As Minister of Marine lie was determined that any prospcrly under his charge should not be damaged if his voice in the Cabinet could stop it. It was a hard problem to solve. 110 had great sympathy with the river settlers and others who had suffered, ami ho promised to assist in every way that lay in bis power.
