MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

(Pzit United Press Assocutioh.) AUCKLAND, May 2. At a deputation to the Hon. fi. Fowlds one of th'.' speakers (Mr Squires) referred to the system under which the municipal elections are conducted. In his opinion the system now in use leads to confusion and corruption. He thought that touting at the polls and the ''ticket" system should be prohibited, while the names of candidates, when printed on tho voting paper, should not be placed one under tho other in alphabetical order, but in a circle, so that llicre would be no top or bottom name. With the present voting paper thoughtless voters cast their votes in favour of tho first-named on the paper, while those on the bottom were overlooked. The Minister said he would submit the suggestions to tho Colonial Secretary.
