— A somewhat original competition between typists has been dccidcd in Paris. The condition was that competitors had to type from dictation for four hours. Thcro jvero 157 competitors. They came from all parts of France, and three hailed from London. The favourite was Jllle. Gahriolle Kovert, of Bordeaux, whose fingers simply flew over the keyboard. Now and again a friend slipped a chocolate .between her lips in order to sustain her. At the end of three hours she had typed 15,000 words, and was 309 words in advance of her nearest rival. A longhand writer entered the competition, but, ho wrote only 9000 words.
