The Philharmonic Society gives its first subscribers' concert this eeason in the Garrison Hall on Tuesday next, A very attractive programme has been arranged, including Wagner's overture, "Dip- Meistersingcr," Beethoven's overture "Fidelos," Dvorak's "Slavonio Dances," the march "Persian" (Strauss), while TEchaikowskys Andante enniabile, Laportes Intermezzo, entitled "Mwyilight music,'/ for strings only, will complete the ' orchestral part of tho programme. Mrs A. ' C. Loring and Mr E. Lawn will contribute the vocal part, and Mr J. Wallace will play a violin solo, "Concert militaire" (Bazzini). A limited number of 2s tickets will bo on sale.

BOYS' BIUSS BAND. ' An open-air concert will bo held in the Gardens to-night at 8 o'clock, the- proceeds to purchase instruments for boys' brass bands, to bo formed from boy.s attending piiblio schools of Dunedin and suburbs. This movement is deserving of public support, as it is educational, and will bo of benefit not only to the senior bands of tho to;?, but to the general pnblc at large beeide3 giving the boyw themselves a. chance of doveloping while any musical talents they may possess. Tho Mornington Brass Band has kindly consented to contribute items during the evening. The above band will leave the Post Office at 7.30 by. special car.
