CHRISTCIIURCH. January 21 His Kxoolloncy the Governor paid ft short visit to tho Exhibition today. Owinjr to a break in the Cook Strait cab'lo the Tutanekai, which ie to convey Lord Plunlict to the Chatham and othor outlying islands, has been detained repairing the , cable, and operations have been delayed owing to rough weather, tho steamer having to take shelter in ono of tho sounds. As soon as tho cable is repaired the Tutanekai will proceed to tho Bluff, whoro his Excclloncy will embark. Accompanying tho Governor on his official trip will bo Mr H. C. Watorfiold (private secretary), Captain Bingham (aide-de-camp). Mr Justice Chapman. Professor Benham (Otago University), and Mr E. R. Waito (curator of tho Canterbury Museum). Tho Tutanekai will re turn to Lyltelton about February 11, and the Governor will preside at a mooting of the Rhodes Scholarship Trustees at Wellington on February 15. Ho will aftorwards go over tho North Island Main Trunk line, and on March 12 will unvoil 'tho Marsdcn Cross at Russell. His Excellency has been advised that Admiral Fa.wkes,. with tho Australian fleet, will visit New Zealand about tho middle of April.
