Hie Onmavn Chamber of Commerce lias received notico from the Superintendent of Telegraphs that instructions had been given for tho erection of a main telephone wire between Oamaru and Dutiedin, am! that the work would Ik put in hand in duo course. It was agreed by tho chamber to .irgo that early effect should be given to the authority issued by the superintendent. The chamber has for some time been pressing under the notico of the Government Iho subject of railway haulage charges between tho town stores and tho breakwater, ami Sir J. G. Ward lias now intimated hid willingness to receive a. deputation when next passing through Oamaru. The chamber is asking the support of the other chambers interested.

It was also decided to forward a requisition to tho-Stamp Department asking that a stamp oflicc Iw opened in Osmium for the convenience of stamping deeds.
