SYDNEY LAND SCANDALS.
Prcaj Awocialion-By Telegriph-Copyright SYDNEY, September 11. (Keceived Sept. 11, at &51 a.m.) In the Crick and Willis case Mr Justice Owen was subpoenaed by the defence. He refused to produce the accountant's reports upon the banking accounts of Crick and other persons concerned, on the •ground that he had not yet completed his report as a Royal Commissioner. SYDNEY, September 11. (Received Sept. 11, at 9.50 p.m.) W. I'. Criek, W. N. Willis, and Charles Bath, who are charged with having conspiral to corruptly and extorsively receive large sums of money from divers persons,' applicants for lands under the Crown Lands Act, have been committed for trial at the quarter sessions on September 'it ' Bail was extended. Crick, in his closing address, declared that it was a political prosecution, and that the only evidence to warrant a committal was that of Peter Close against himself. Willis and Bath should be discharged. His shoulders were broad enough to carry the charge past the jury, as they had done before.
