CONCERNING PETITIONS.
TO THE ZDirOß.' Sir,—lt is to hoped that l]ie. petitinii which is being so extensively' signed by tho citizens and Otago electors generally, and which is so strongly advocated by our worthy Mayor, and councillors, will rcceiva more consideration from the Houso of Representatives than tho City Council gav«t to the petition that was presented' to it praying for tho alteration of tho penny scction on the car line in George ptreet from Frederick street to Albany street. Although, it was signed by ovoi; 1800 citizens and ratepayers, and though the citizens.at the north end are suffering just as much an injustice in another way, the council 6ccs fit to ignoro it, and seems e6ntent lo allow the residcnts r of an outside borough to havo nearly two blocks out of till} citizens' scction. As it hopes to seo justice done to the Harbour Board b.v the Government, it should do justice to its own' citizens by giving effect to tho petition ifc received.—l am, ctc,, Alfred E. Brow^.
