AMUSEMENTS.

ALHAMBRA THEATRE. There was practically a full house at the popular Alhambza Theatre hist evening, when the e'nango of programnio as instituted on S&tiirihiy evening mis repeated with much success. Prominent' anion;; the. new arrivals are the Bovis Brothers. These clever comedians provide u " turn " which is strikingly original throughout, and in their boxing burlesque are immensely funny. Al the conclusion they were accorded quito an ovation, 'iliss Winnie Wagner, another new arrival, is a vocal comedienne, u'so with a good deal of originality. " Marvellous Sid" dees some really clever trapeze work, and Bob Lloyd excelled himself in humorous song. Among the other members of the company are C'raydcn and Barton, Little Jackson, Mr A. L. Cropp, the Kowel! Sisters (charming dancers), the Berto'.o Sisters, Clara. Keating, Aubrey Douglas, and Sam Wilson. The performance concludes with some interesting bioscopic films. The company will appear again this evening. SKATIXG KIXK. There was a good attendance at the new skating rink in the Brydono Hill last evening. A first-class floor is provided, lively music is supplied by an adequate orchestra, the hall is nicely decorated and lighted, and there is everything there that tends to enjoyable skating, lar.b evening ihe fascinating pastime was pursued with rigour and with much evident enthusiasm for some two hours. The rink will bo open on Wednesday and Friday of this week from 8 to 10 p.m. COXCEUT AT THE BEXEA'OLEXT HOME.

The Rescue Lodge of Good Templars lieicl its monthly concert on Thursday evening at the Benevolent Institution belore. a largo gathering of the inmates. Bro. J. Hilton, Chief Tomplar, presided. Burrcws's orchestra rendered two Hems. Songs ivere given by Miss M. Edwards, Miss Coombs, and Messrs Leifh (encored), Coombs ('2), AY. Dull (enccredl. Jolmson. Boyd (encored); recitations.by Miss Duncan and Mr Oi'Loan; mandoline selection by Miss Edwards; flute selections liy Mr Spencer; month organ selection by Mr Carter; violin and pianoforte duet bv tho Misses Macdonald. Tire accompanists were Miss Sprnccr and Miss Friistch. Mrs Co?mbs gave an in(ciesting address. 'flic inmates of the inslituiion accorded the performers a hearty vote of thanks, and expressed the hope that the performers would return soon and repeat tho performance. The entertainment was closed t>y all present singing the National Anthem. BENEFIT COXCERT. There was a. large attendance at P.G. Bro. Lyon's h'-use last evening of members of tho M.U.1.0.0.F.. Oddfellows, who have in hand Bro. Kirby's benefit. P.O. Bro. Thomson was in the chair, and reported that the various committees appointed had been most successful in their efforts. His Majesty's Theatre had been offered at actual cost ■ of lighting and charing. Messrs K. Hudson and Co. had presented the committee with as many tickets as it required, while the Musical Programme Committee had not met with a refusal from the leading artists. D.P.G.M. Bro. Munro reported that tho district officers wished (o accord their patronage and assist in every way possible. The concert gave promise of being a huge success, and the committee feci assured (hat a ready sale will be found for the tickets, which are largely circulated amongst the members. Tho secretary was instructed to write to all those who had offered assistance, and to convey to them the committee's appreciation of their -willingness to assist Bro. Kirby, vhoSD self-sacrificing act had appealed to all who had become acquainted with tho case. Several sub-committees met at tho close of the general masting and will report at the next meeting, when '.■ programme will bs submitted.

A concert and dramatic entertainment, having for its object tho reduction of the debt on S-t. Patrick's School, has been arranged for to-morrow evening in the South Dunedin Town Hall. A good programme will be rendered, and a. humorous comedy, entitled " Suspended Animation," will be given by msmbers of St. Patrick's Dramatic Club.
