News Ill's been received of the death of General Buckley, who v.-us for some years a resident of Dunedin. The llusscoreo Tillies of Ist June, in recording tire event, says: —
" Major-general Buckley's deiith, which took place las'. Friday morning, has cast a deep gloom over Laudour and Mnssooree amongst the elder residents who knew him well. Ho hud lived through troublous tuid stormy times, and had travelled much, both on duty and on pleasure, from the time when he came out as a young cadet with his father, Brigadiergeneral Buckley, till a few years ago, when, after spending about; 13 years in Tasmania and New Zealand, he decided <o settle down on his beautiful estate, South Hill. General Buckley was married to a sister of Mrs i'l. D. Houston, of St. Clair.
