HARBOUR BOARD REPORTS.
The following is the engineer's report, to be presented at the meeting of the Olago Harbour Board this: afternoon: —
Dredging.—Dredge 222 is dredging Victoria channel between piles 15 and IB and piles 34 and 25. A cut 80ft wido is now being made in tho centre between the red and black piles to a depth of S2ft low water. Luring the month of May sho lifted U. 527 cubic yards from tho channel at the Heads, which \*aa deposited at joa,. and 3332 cubic yards from Victoria channel, and deposited at the Vulcan, making a total of 18.139 cubic yards, at a combined cost l'oT wage 3, stores, and repairs of 9Jd per citbi'o yard; The Vulcan finished deepening the berthage at Victoria, wharf eaily in the month, and then moored off the end of the wharf to receive the spoil from Dredge 222. The new rope drive is giving tlie greatest satisfaction, not a singlo hitch or ttoppage having occurred since its installation, while tho raving in power ij represented by a ecu! consumption or about 2cwt less per running hour than that formerly consumed. The Priestman is deepening the smith side of the Gcorgo street wharf and depositing tlie material lx-ar.the mouth of the new dock. During the month of May HIS cubic, yards of mud and stones were lifted and deposited a,l a total coat of Is per cubic yard.

The approaches to the Violcris. wharf have bac-n remeta'.led and a Giu dn-'.iu constructed opnosite the iiitarseehon of Rattray street aud Victoria wharf in order to prevent tho accumulation of stagnant water on the board's reserves.
