CASUALTIES.
(Per UxiTr.D Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCIT, April 27. A young man named Joseph Scoon was with a companion shooting on tho Sumner Hills today wlion ho fired at what ho took (o be a rabbit. Tho object aimed at, however, turned out to bo the top of a hat belonging to Miss Collinson, who, with a young man named Ernest Crookc, was sifting on a hill. Tho lead pellets peppered Miss Collinson's body, and severely injured Crookc. and both had to bo taken to the hospital. A littlo girl named Olaga Jcnyns was run over by a steam tram at Woolston at about 10 o'clock to-day, and was injured so seriously that sho is not expected to survive. She is 10 months old. It is not known how sho got under tho tram, but her mother thinks that ,sho must have attempted to follow other children to school, and have p.ot in the way of tho tram. A man named Henry Hill, employed as a painter, fell from a scaffolding 23ft high at the Exhibit ion buildings, and broke one ot his legs. CARTERTON, April 26. At the inquest on the body of A. Reals, railway fireman, a verdict was returned that deceased was accidentally killed by his head coming in contact with the Waingawa bridge while leaning out to seo if the ejector was in working order.
